How to sell your home during a pandemic
Author: RSRE   December 20, 2020

We are all aware of the global pandemic that is sweeping the entire world, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy or sell. There are precautions you can take to ensure that you are being safe and stopping the spread of COVID-19.

How to sell your home during a pandemic:

  1. Clean
  2. Protect yourself
  3. Offer virtual tours
  4. Suggest masks and hand sanitizer be available

Clean

The best thing you can do is clean, clean, clean before and after a private showing of your home. Wipe those door handles, light switches, counters, and anything else that can be touched. Don’t forget to spray some disinfectant (if you can find some). Get rid of as many germs as you can so they die at the surface. You don’t want to take the risk (no matter how great or small you feel it may be). It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Protect yourself

Taking precautions can take a lot of extra work, but doing so is only to protect yourself and others. Ask your agent what can be done to help stop the spread of viruses during such a vulnerable time. Your agent will have suggestions and things you can do to help make the sale of your home a success for all parties involved.

Offer virtual tours

Virtual tours have really taken off in the past year. Why? Because those who may be interested can view your home right from their couch. This can help weed out those who aren’t so interested and can keep the foot traffic to a minimum.

Suggest masks and hand sanitizer be available

Let your agent know that you are concerned about the virus and let them know you want masks and hand sanitizer to be put on/used at the door. This can help keep the germs to a minimum and help stop the spread as visitors walk through your home.

Another thing you can ask is for your visitors to wear shoe coverings (if available), this will keep all the germs from the bottom of their shoes from spreading throughout your home.
