You don’t always get to control your circumstances, but you have to make the best of the hand you’re dealt. If you have been waiting for your home to sell and it’s finally gone off of the market, congratulations. But, now you may be concerned with how you can safely move during the coronavirus pandemic.
3 ways to move safely during a pandemic:
- You may want to avoid getting free packing supplies
- Make sure your help is taking proper safety precautions
- Don’t forget to deep clean your home
You may want to avoid getting free packing supplies
It wasn’t all that uncommon before the pandemic to search Facebook and local friends and retailers for free packing supplies such as unused boxes, but now it’s not such a good idea. Germs can live on surfaces for days and without knowing where the supplies have come from it’s hard to tell who all has touched them and if they are carrying any diseases with them. That’s why it’s important to either use plastic containers that you can wipe down or purchase new packing supplies that are wrapped safely to transport your belongings in. You don’t want to take the chance of carrying something into your new home.
Make sure your help is taking proper safety precautions
If you are asking friends or family members to help you move or maybe you are hiring a moving company to help you want to make sure that they are not sick. Asking your help to take their temperature, wear a mask, and gloves to help transport your things will only keep everyone safe. In times such as this, others are more willing and able to have the proper PPE to adhere to your request.
Don’t forget to deep clean your home
You may have just waltzed right in your new home prior to the coronavirus pandemic without really cleaning, but now that’s not such a good idea. You will want to take the time to clean your new home before transporting more things into it. If you don’t have the time to properly clean and disinfect your home with everything else you have to do, you may want to consider hiring a cleaning company to do the work for you. If that is not an option, make sure you buy good cleaning supplies that will kill the germs and keep you healthy as you start your new life in your new home.
